Ballet classes at EDL follow the British Association of Teachers of Dancing (B.A.T.D) syllabus. This allows our students to follow an internationally recognized syllabus. Jazz and tap classes give students the opportunity to work with the Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers (A.D.A.P.T) syllabus.
Ballet allows the student to work on technique, grace, flexibility and confidence.
Jazz is an energetic dance style that allows the student to work on jumps, turns and flexibility as well as develop an artistic style.
Tap gives the student the opportunity to discover rhythm through different styles of music.
Hip Hop allows the student to learn breaking, popping, tutting, whacking, krumping, jazz funk and commercial.
Broadway is a dance style that combines jazz and theatre.
Acro-dance combines jazz, tumbling, stands and contortion and allows a student to work on flexibility and strength.
Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz and places emphasis on the expression of deep feelings based on music and choreography.
The basic principles of contemporary are based on the experimentation of time, energy, space and movement sensation.
